The Invader

An ecological disaster is slowly unfolding in our local forests.

English ivy isn't native to Vancouver Island. However, it was introduced by English gardeners and was used extensively by the highways department in years past to landscape meridians.

Now it grows extensively as a ground cover throughout our local forests. It's an aggressive vine with also grows up into trees, eventually choking them out.
