Mayne Island

Mt Baker viewed from Mayne Island...
Mt Baker, seen from Mayne Island...
The Gulf Islands are a collection of smaller islands off the southern east coast of the larger Vancouver Island. They are known for their rural charm and tend to attract artistic back-to-nature types. Some of them are bedroom communities for Victoria except that the commute to work involves taking a ferry.

My favourite of these islands is Mayne Island. This view of Mt Baker in Washington State is taken from the Bennett Bay beach on the east side of the island. The point of land on the right is Georgeson Island. The point of land on the left is part of the Gulf Island National Park Reserve.
