Creepy crawlies

Alien-esque critter at Victoria's Bug Zoo...Eight legs or six... either way it's creepy looking...Be careful handling this guy/gal at the Victoria Bug Zoo...
Recently some family came to visit from Ontario. They have a 4-year-old daughter so I took them to Victoria's Bug Zoo. It's a popular tourist attraction but, despite the fact that it has been around for years, I had never been to see it before.

The exhibit is essentially just two rooms with all sorts of six- and eight-legged critters to see in plexiglass containers. Our guide was pretty knowledgeable and shared a lot of interesting bug trivia. If you're brave enough you can even handle some of the critters -- among other bugs I handled a scorpion.

One interesting fact: As a general rule, the larger the pincers on a scorpion the less deadly the venom in their tail. So if you ever find a scorpion with big claws in your sleeping bag -- don't freak out and scream like a little girl relax!

For an entire family to visit, it's probably a bit pricey, but I would recommend it for a least one visit.
