Mt. Baker... could it erupt today!?
Mt. Baker peaks over the horizon...
On a clear day under the right atmospheric conditions, it's possible to see Mt. Baker from various locations in and around Victoria.

Mt Baker is located in Washington State in the Cascades. Not a lot of Victorians realize that it is an active volcano. It hasn't erupted in about 7000 years, but that's not to say it won't happen again.This photo above was taken a few days ago from the top of nearby Christmas Hill on a  nearly cloudless day.

One of my favourite photos of the mountain was taken several years ago (below) from the top of our own mountain, the Malahat, looking across Saanich Inlet and the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
